Rim Foul
rim foul
Bad Rim Alignment
Bent Rim Foul - Rim of the can is bent or deformed.
Correction: Faulty Game-Can alignment during setup. Focus on smoothness. Avoid wobbling the ram during the strike cycle.

Overlay Rim Foul - Sidewalls of trophy are shifted. Rim alignment is offset.
Correction: Increase ram speed at moment of impact. Follow through after strike.

Rotational Rim Foul - Upper rim of trophy is rotated in respect to the lower rim.
Correction: Game-Can hit on edge as it tipped on the KRUNCHPAD surface, (common problem for first time "power hitters"). Also occurs if a gust of wind moves the Game-Can just prior to impact.

Side Foul

side foul
Defect on can body sidewall degrades stratification

Wing -folded 2 layer extension sticking out from the sidewall of the trophy. Wings may be flat or inflated with signs of folding, not to be confused with lipping which has little folding.

Fin -A break in the sidewall of the trophy uplifting a shard shaped single walled extension. Fins occur in various sizes and shapes but most assume the classic shark fin or broad knife shape.

Fusion -inversion of the can body sidewall. Potential for stratification is gobbled up inside the crushed can. Usually caused by slow ram speed at the time of strike. Strong downward force with insufficient speed will cause fusion.

Fracture -a split in the body of the can. Fractures often occur in pairs or multiples and in collusion with of other fouls. Once extremely rare, fractures are showing up more often due to the thinner walled games-cans in play.

Lipping -Stratification in the absence of bifurcation. Large lip like formations on the sidewall of the trophy. Inflated ridges. Extreme cases of Lipping noted as "Gross Lipping" or "Inflated Lipping" involve large portions of the can's body sidewall.

Compression Foul

Compression Foul
Trophy Measures Outside Competitive Compression Range
High Compression Overload - Axial Compression is less than 24.3mm. HCO is the "Worst Foul" and it carries the highest penalty. The Game-Can has been crushed beyond the allowable compression range.
Probable Cause: Excessive force used when energizing the ram, poor form, faulty Game-Can.

Low Compression Foul- One of the most common fouls. Trophy can measures larger than 38.1 mm.
Probable Cause: Failure to follow-through on the strike. Insufficient force on the strike. Recoil reflex due to pneumatic cushion effect of trapped air inside the Game-Can during crushing cycle.

**Note: Judges may advance a Low Compression "High Stacking" trophy with a 5+ count stratification when the layering portion of the trophy (the-stack) measures greater than 24.3 mm.
